Baking for fun Sheffield Clandestine Cake Club

Sheffield Clandestine Cake club were hosted for their St Georges Day Cakes event by Somewhere Else Cafe in Sheffield #manythanks . Our 7 lovely bakers plus guests made a range of cakey themes from merrie England . Our 2 junior bakers sampled all the cakes & were perfectly behaved !! Raspberry & Vanilla swirl cake with freeze dried & fresh raspberries, with a buttercream filling from Karen.


Sarah & Sophie made a still warm Eccles Cake with apple, cinnamon & currant centre. It had a sweet lemon drizzle top.


Michelle one of our newest members brought a lovely traditional raspberry & almond cake with a crumbly almond top. DSC06102

Anne made a ‘Naked Cake’ , that’s sponge filled , but with no coating or icing, just a dust of icing sugar. She filled it with rose flavoured cream, with the perfect balance of flavour.


Ness made an Earl Grey Tea Loaf. This had honey & dried fruit instead of sugar. Its origins are in Northumberland & the granting of voting rights to ordinary people.DSC06104

Kates Eton Mess cake was built around a Nigella all in one Lemon Meringue sponge layer cake with strawberry , blueberry, lemon curd and cream .


Vicky made a Victoria sponge with a secret red cross of St George in the middle, iced with butter cream & silver balls . Very regal .DSC06106

We then set about trying all the cakes … look at all the yummy centres !
